How to get a clean signature

Sign on white paper
Use a black or dark blue pen. A gel pen or felt tip gives a solid line; a faint ballpoint works too.

Take the photo from above
Hold the phone flat over the page in daylight. Keep your hand's shadow off the signature. A slight shadow is fine: the tool evens out the lighting.

Pick the ink and download
Choose black, blue or red ink. If thin parts of the signature are missing, move the slider toward “Faint lines too”. If grey specks appear, move it back.

Questions people ask
Is my signature uploaded anywhere?
No. The photo is processed by your browser on your own phone or computer. It is never sent to a server, so nobody else can see or keep your signature.
Which file should I download?
Use the PNG for documents and PDFs: its background is transparent, so it sits cleanly on any page. Use the JPG when a form only accepts JPG; it has a white background. The SVG is a vector drawing that stays sharp at any size.
Why are parts of my signature missing or too thin?
Light pen strokes can look like paper. Move the “Line pickup” slider toward “Faint lines too”, or sign again with a darker pen and take the photo closer.
There are grey specks around my signature. How do I remove them?
Move the slider toward “Dark ink only”. Specks usually come from paper texture, lines on ruled paper or a shadow. Plain white paper and daylight give the cleanest result.
Does a form need a particular size or file size for the signature?
Many do. The download is cropped tightly around your signature at full resolution. If a form sets a pixel or KB limit, check its instructions; most forms resize the image for you.
