Questions people ask
Is my recording uploaded anywhere?
No. It is recorded by your browser and stays on your device until you download it. Nothing is sent to a server, and closing the page deletes anything you haven't downloaded.
How does the noise reduction work?
It turns on the noise suppression, echo cancellation and automatic volume built into your browser, then removes hum and rumble below 80 Hz, such as fans, air conditioning and electrical hum. It works best on steady background noise; switch it off for music, where you want the raw sound.
Which file do I get?
Safari records M4A and most other browsers record WebM, both small files that keep the voice clear. Download WAV if an app or form needs it; it is larger but opens everywhere.
Is there a time limit?
No fixed limit. Long recordings use more memory, so for anything over an hour, stop and start a new one now and then.
