How to make a UPI QR code

  1. 01

    Enter your UPI ID

It looks like name@bank and is shown in your UPI app's profile.

  2. 02

Add your name, and an amount if you want

The name appears on the payer's screen. A fixed amount suits a set price; leave it empty for tips or rent.

  3. 03

    Download and pay yourself ₹1

Scan it from another phone and send ₹1 to check the name and UPI ID before you print it.

Good to know

  • The code holds only your UPI ID, name, amount and note. It never contains your bank account number or PIN.
  • You never need your UPI PIN to receive money. Anyone asking you to scan a code and enter your PIN to get paid is trying to take money from you.
  • For a busy shop, a merchant QR from your bank or payment app can add features such as payment alerts. This code works as a simple personal one.

Questions people ask

Is what I type sent anywhere?

No. The code is drawn by your browser on your own device, so your UPI ID, Wi-Fi password or contact details never reach us or anyone else.

Which apps can scan it?

Any UPI app, such as BHIM, Google Pay, PhonePe or Paytm. The code uses the standard upi://pay format that UPI apps read.

Can I make a UPI QR code with a fixed amount?

Yes. Type the amount and the payer's app opens with it filled in. Leave it empty and the payer types any amount.

Will the QR code stop working?

No. It holds your link or details directly, with no redirect through our server, so it works for as long as what it points to exists. Many free generators make 'dynamic' codes that send people through their own site and can expire or be paywalled later.
