How to make a Wi-Fi QR code
- 01
Type the network name
Exactly as it appears in your phone's Wi-Fi list, including capital letters and spaces.
- 02
Add the password and security
Most home routers use WPA or WPA2. Pick 'No password' for an open network.
- 03
Print it and test
Scan it with a phone that isn't connected yet; it should offer to join the network.
Good to know
- The password is inside the code as plain text: anyone who scans it, or photographs the printed card, can read it. Put visitors on a separate guest network if your router has one.
- Change the Wi-Fi password and the old code stops working, so print a new one.
- Tick 'Hidden network' if your router doesn't broadcast its name.
Questions people ask
Is what I type sent anywhere?
No. The code is drawn by your browser on your own device, so your UPI ID, Wi-Fi password or contact details never reach us or anyone else.
Do guests need an app to scan it?
Usually not. Most phone cameras read Wi-Fi codes and offer to join the network. Older phones may need a QR scanner app.
Why doesn't the code connect?
The network name or password doesn't match exactly, or the security type is wrong. Check capital letters and spaces, and try WPA if you are not sure.
