One .vcf file holds every contact.

Importing the VCF

  • iPhone: open the .vcf from Files or Mail and tap “Add all contacts”.
  • Android: in the Contacts app, find Import (often under Settings or “Fix & manage”) and choose the .vcf file.
  • Google Contacts on the web: choose Import and select the .vcf file; it syncs to every phone signed in to that account.
  • Several phone numbers or emails for one person can sit in separate columns, or in one cell separated by “ ::: ” as Google Contacts exports them.

Questions people ask

How do I convert an Excel contact list to VCF?

Save the sheet as CSV UTF-8 in Excel, choose that file here, check the columns are matched correctly, and download the VCF.

Will the VCF work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. The file is vCard 3.0, which iPhone, Android and Google Contacts all import, with names, phone numbers, emails, company, address, birthday and notes.

Are my contacts uploaded?

No. The file is read by your browser on your own device. Contact lists are personal data, so nothing is sent anywhere.

What if a column is matched to the wrong field?

Pick the right field from the list next to that column, or choose “Don't use” to leave it out. The contact count and preview update straight away.
