Printable isometric paper
A grid of equal triangles, with lines upright and at 30° either side, for drawing cubes, rooms and objects in 3D without vanishing points. Pick the triangle size, check the preview, and download a PDF.
- 5 mm, 1 cm or ¼ in triangles
- Letter or A4 PDF
- Grey, blue or black
Print at 100 % (“Actual size”) so the spacing stays true.

Good to know
- Draw heights along the upright lines and widths and depths along the two 30° lines. Lengths stay true in all three directions, which is what “isometric” (equal measure) means.
- 5 mm triangles suit detailed drawings and maths work with cube models; 1 cm triangles suit younger students and large diagrams.
- The size is the side of each triangle: the distance between two crossings along any line.
- Only whole columns of triangles are printed, centred on the page.
- Grey lines fade behind pencil, so the drawing stands out when you ink it.
- Print at 100 % (“Actual size”) so the triangles come out at their true size; “Fit to page” shrinks them.
Questions people ask
What is isometric paper used for?
Drawing 3D objects in technical drawing, design and art classes, sketching rooms and game levels, and maths work such as drawing shapes built from cubes.
What angle are the lines on isometric paper?
Upright, and 30° above and below the horizontal. The three directions are 60° apart where they cross, so they make equilateral triangles.
Is isometric drawing the same as perspective?
No. In perspective, lines meet at vanishing points and far things look smaller. In isometric drawing parallel lines stay parallel and every edge keeps its true length, which makes it easy to measure.
How do I print isometric paper at the right size?
Print the PDF at 100 % or “Actual size”. The grid stays inside a half-inch margin, so nothing needs to shrink to fit.
