How to make a UPI QR poster
- 01
Enter your UPI ID and name
The UPI ID looks like name@bank and is in your UPI app's profile. The name is printed under the code and shown to the payer.
- 02
Check the preview
Add an amount only for a fixed price, such as a set meal. Leave it empty so customers type what they owe.
- 03
Print and test
Print the PDF at 100% (actual size) on A4. Pay yourself ₹1 from another phone before you put it up.
Good to know
- Put the poster in a plastic sleeve or laminate it. Creases, dirt and glare stop cameras reading the code.
- Check the poster now and then. Scammers sometimes stick their own QR code over a shop's code.
- The name is printed in English letters, so the PDF prints the same on any printer.
- The code is 12 cm wide, which phones read from about a metre away.
Questions people ask
Which apps can scan the poster?
Any UPI app, such as BHIM, Google Pay, PhonePe or Paytm, and most phone cameras. The code uses the standard upi://pay format.
Do I need a merchant account?
No. The poster works with a personal UPI ID. For a busy shop, the merchant QR from your bank or payment app can add features such as payment alerts.
Can I print it on Letter paper?
The poster is laid out for A4. On US Letter, choose 'Fit to page' in the print window; the code shrinks slightly and still scans.
Is what I type sent anywhere?
No. The code is drawn by your browser on your own device, so your UPI ID, Wi-Fi password or contact details never reach us or anyone else.
