Resize image to 10 KB

10 KB is the smallest file most forms accept: JEE Main, NEET UG, IBPS and SSC all set it as the minimum for a signature. When a form caps uploads at 10 KB instead, a signature fits easily and a photo has to shrink a lot.

Questions people ask

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. The image is resized by your browser on your own device and never leaves it. That also makes it fast: there is nothing to upload or wait for.

Can a photo fit in 10 KB and still be clear?

A head-and-shoulders photo can, at a few hundred pixels across: enough for the small box a form shows. Crop close to the face first so the bytes go on your face, not the wall.

How do I reduce a signature to under 10 KB?

Sign in dark ink on plain white paper, photograph it close up in good light, then choose it here with 10 KB selected. Crop the photo to the signature first, so the file isn't spent on empty paper.

My form says the signature must be at least 10 KB. Is this the right page?

No, this page keeps files under 10 KB. For a 10–20 KB signature, use the signature 10–20 KB page, which also pads a file that comes out too small.

Can I make an image smaller than 10 KB, like 5 KB?

Yes, down to 5 KB. Tap Other size and type the limit. Below that a JPG is mostly file structure with almost no room left for the picture, so the tool stops there.

Why does it say the size is too small for my photo?

A large, detailed photo can't fit in a very small limit, even after the tool shrinks it several times. Crop it closer, use a photo with a plain background, or pick a larger limit if the form allows it.

Is 10 KB enough for a passport-size photo on a form?

For the small box an online form shows, usually yes. If the form gives a range, use more of it: JEE Main and NEET UG accept a photo of 10–200 KB, and a bigger file stays sharper.

Will the photo look worse?

Only as much as the limit forces. The tool lowers JPG quality first, which is hard to see, and shrinks the pixel size only if it must. The preview shows the exact file you will download.
