Resize image to 1 MB
A 1 MB cap is generous: most phone photos only need their JPG quality lowered a little, so they keep almost all their pixels and look unchanged.

Questions people ask
Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. The image is resized by your browser on your own device and never leaves it. That also makes it fast: there is nothing to upload or wait for.
How do I reduce a photo to 1 MB on iPhone?
Open this page in Safari, tap Choose image and pick the photo, then keep 1 MB selected and download the JPG. No app or sign-up is needed, and the photo is never uploaded.
Is 1 MB 1000 KB or 1024 KB?
It depends on the site. The tool stays under 1,024,000 bytes, which passes whichever way the form counts.
Can I set a limit like 1.5 MB?
Yes. Tap Other size, type 1.5 and choose MB. 1.5 MB is read as 1536 KB, and the file is kept under 1,536,000 bytes.
Why is my photo over 1 MB in the first place?
Phones save photos at high quality and 12 megapixels or more, often 3–5 MB each. That detail is more than any form displays.
Does resizing to 1 MB change the width and height?
Sometimes, a little. Photos over 4000 pixels on the long side are first scaled to 4000 px; if lower JPG quality alone can't then reach 1 MB, the tool also shrinks the pixels. The preview shows the exact width and height.
Is there a limit on how many photos I can resize?
No daily limit, and it is free with no sign-up. You can pick up to 20 photos at a time and start again as often as you like.
Will the photo look worse?
Only as much as the limit forces. The tool lowers JPG quality first, which is hard to see, and shrinks the pixel size only if it must. The preview shows the exact file you will download.
